My Spring Bucket List!

Although spring isn't my favorite season, it's a close second; It's the rejuventation of the Earth. It's also one of the most picturesque out of the four seasons. I love the colors that Spring brings but what I'm most excited about are the activities that one is able to enjoy when the weather is warmer. I've complied a bucket list of things that I want to experience during this beautiful season. Check it out!

1. Zip Lining.

I'm a bit of an outdoor sports enthusiast and zip lining is definitely up my alley. I love the thrill of being suspended in the air, like on a rollercoaster. Living Social and similar sites are always having deals on zip lining, so you don't have to break the bank too much. Parasailing, paragliding, being on a hot air balloon, and bungee jumping are also on my list but zip lining will be experienced in the near future. Can't wait!

2. Go to a baseball game.

I've never been to one! All of the cities that I've lived in has had a team but I wasn't highly interested in going to one, until now. I hear that it's a good time and a ton of fun, especially if you go with people who enjoy the sport. And it doesn't hurt that tickets are really cheap and drinks are served for those who like to sip on adult beverages :-)

3. Make a new recipe.

The older I get, the more I like to cook and the more I want to put together signature recipes for food and drinks. Years from now, I want my kids to call me and say, "Hey Mom, can you make your chicken pasta tonight PLEASE?" Or whenever I go to a bake sale, I want to have that one cake that everyone looks forward to eating. So, I've got to start now. I'll update with pictures in a future blog. But until then, let the experimenting commence!

4. Buy a bicycle.

One of my fondest childhood memories is riding my bicycle and exploring my neighborhood with my brother and sister. Now that I'm an adult, I still want to explore. It's a way to get out of your house and enjoy some fresh air. It's also great exercise for those of you who want to keep your body in shape. The type of bike I want is a cruiser, complete with a girly basket to carry my things because wearing a fanny pack is not in the question!

5. Go to a outdoors movie screening.

Who doesn't enjoy watching movies? And what a better way to enjoy it than watching it outdoors? Most of these screenings are free because they're sponsored by your local government. Or you can go to a drive-in movie theater. Tickets are usually cheaper than $10. You'll have to get online and search for nearby drive-ins, because they aren't as popular as they were back in the day. So grab a friend or few, a blanket, some tasty snacks and go watch a movie, even if you've seen it a thousand times.

6. Practice my photography!

I really do enjoy taking pictures. I love capturing a moment that you'll never have again. My style of photography can be described as natural and very scenic. I tend to take a lot of nature-esque pictures because I'm drawn to its beauty but I'd like to expand and take more pictures of people. I want to build a diverse portfolio so if you'd like me to shoot a few pictures of you for free, email me at cbethel3@gmail.com.

7. Learn to play chess

I'm not going to lie, chess was a game that intimidated me, reason unknown. I love board games (Checkers and Scrabble are my absolutely favorites) and I'd like to learn how to play. It's a game that requires supreme concentration and strategic planning. I'll probably teach myself but I'd rather post up at Barnes and Noble and ask an elderly gentleman to teach me! They are the masters and what better way to learn than to be taught from an experienced player?

8. Travel somewhere new for a weekend.
The Too Live Fedora Crew :-)
Forsyth Park, Savannah Georgia
Last year, my besties and I made an extended weekend trip to Savannah, GA. We had the best fun sight-seeing, lounging at the beach, and eating at local restaurants. I'd like to do that again, a few times if possible. There's something exciting about going to a place that you've never been. What makes it even more fun is if you randomly select a state (within your region if you can't afford an international trip), pick a date, and save some dollars. The goal isn't to blow your bank account but to ball on a budget. My girlfriends and I do it all the time; the question is where we'll go this year...

9. DIY (Do It Yourself) Home Project

As much as I love my space, I love it even more when I personalize it! I already like having unique knick knacks in my space but a way to have originality in your house is to make it yourself. Pinterest is an awesome website to research cool and new ideas for anything, including home projects. I just so happen to love pillows and being a Pre-K teacher allows me to paint a couple times a week. Combining the two of these to create an original piece is fun and a great conversation starter when guests visit your home :-)

10. Support local businesses/artists!!!!!!

We all know people who have started their own businesses. If we're truly their friend, we'd support them right? Wrong! A lot of people are apprehensive about supporting anything that's new, because it's new. I even have some difficulties getting people to read my blog, and it's free! But for others, who are spending their time and money creating and selling food, music, art, photographs, jewelry, etc, should be supported by their communities. That's a great way for our economy to thrive. So go to a show, a restaurant, the farmer's market, whatever! Support your family, friends, and community! Trust me, they'll be grateful for those who believed in their work when it was at its humblest of beginnings.

I'm really excited to do these activities on my list. What's on yours? Let me know in a comment below!

I'll post pictures of what I've done as spring progresses. Thanks for reading! Peace my loves!!!

  1. I want to do some DIY projects too! My first projects will be to make my own household cleaning spray, scented candles, large mouse pad for work, stenciled glass vase for flowers! Maybe we should do some projects together! I want to go zip lining as well and go to an outdoor concert. Spring equals endless fun in the sun! Great post!

    1. Those are great ideas! For Christmas one year, my students made personalized mouse pads for their parents; it was a HUGE hit! And I may have to add scented candles on my list of DIY projects. Can't wait to see what we get into this spring! Love you!!!

  2. C Bee...feeling the spring bucket list. Live baseball is a more enjoyable experience that watching it on TV. I have not been to see the Hoppers yet, but I have been to a couple of Dash games here in Winston and have loved it! After seeing "42", you may be encouraged even more to attend. We have this guy, Courtney Hawkins, who is the Chicago White Sox top prospect, and will probably not be with the Dash long before making that jump to the majors. And dude is only 19 years old! Okay, enough of the tangent lol. Also, supporting your local businesses and artist; yep...urah um, I will let a sista know when I perform next time lol. Alright, here is my Spring Bucket list:

    1) California Trip

I have family in L.A. and Pasadena and I would love to spend some time in Cali seeing the sights and spending time with them.

    2) Vineyard weekend

Spending a weekend hitting up the North Carolina Vineyards would be a blast. From Childress, to all other Vineyards in between. Now, I am not a big drinker by any stretch of the imagination, however, I do love a nice glass of wine from time to time :-).

    3) Music Festival

Whether or not I am on stage, or, just a fan or both, I have gotta do that at some point in time. Spending a few days somewhere, enjoying music by some of my favorite artist Live, resting, and coming back doing it all over again infatuates me.

    4) Disney World

Now stop the snickering right now Christa I am serious lol. This would have to be a week long vacation sense Disney World is a world of it's on with more than a person can do in a week. Universal Studios, Sea World, etc...I want to experience as much as possible.

    5) Outdoor Movie

That's right...me too. The last time I went to an outdoor movie was when I was a kid. I would love to do it as an adult.

    6) National White Water Park in Charlotte.

I have been kayaking and canoeing but never White Water Rafting. I would love to go and we have probably the best facility in the nation right here in NC.

    7) Dinner on a boat

They have dinner on a boat in Lake Norman where you can have dinner while sailing the lake enjoying the sights...aahhhh!

    8) Run a marathon

I have a track and running background but I have never attempted even a half marathon. I would love to run one this time of year at a location where the pollen count is low haha.

    9) Outer Banks

The Outer Banks seems like a very cool place to visit with a great deal of history.

10)Go to a drag race, Lemans race, Indy race, or Nascar...even a Car Show.

Hey, I love cars especially fast ones so any of these experiences, watch a brotha tweak out like a 7 year old kid lol.

So there it is, glad I could offer my two cents :-)!

    1. Your spring bucket list is awesome, mainly because it's stuff you want to do. California is BEAUTIFUL; take lots of pics! My friends and I went to Shelton Vineyards (I wrote a post about it this past Sept). We had a BLAST. Dinner on a boat is a unique idea! I think that's my favorite from your list!

I hope you get the opportunities to experience all of these great ideas! Keep me updated!

      Thanks for reading!!
