Ask Christa: Who are 'these hos'?

Dear Christa,

"What do you think about the phrase 'These hos ain't loyal'? Who are they and why aren't they loyal?"

Well, there's a lot of speculation of what 'ho' truly means.

Growing up, it meant a person, usually a girl or woman, who's sexually promiscuous. Nowadays, it seems to have looser meanings, no pun intended.

Some men and women friends call each other hos in a seemingly joking manner.  Among other definitions, it could be defined as a synonym for a person (What up ho?) or a girl who rejects the advances of an annoying pursuer (You weren't even that fine anyway ho!).

The phrase "These hos ain't loyal" is contradictory because if said person is sexually promiscuous, why would the expectation of loyalty exist?

Have you noticed that there's quite a bit of concern of what hos are up to, who they've slept with, what they wear that's a clear (not) indicator of their whorish ways, etc? We need to ask ourselves, "Why do I care?". I can understand if there's a genuine concern for the physical and mental well-being of these individuals but to worry about hos in the general sense based on weak fallacies and hearsay because you're nosy is ludicrous.

My advice is to stop worrying about what these hos are out here doing. Unless it directly affects you, just mind ya business!

Thanks for your question! Please share your opinions in the comment section below! Peace!

  1. I remember when I first heard the song my thought was, 'Oh you mad?' *insert head roll* That's another story. I actually relate this song to men who don't want to commit. It seems to be an issue that a woman who is single and doing her "thing" isn't loyal. Who does she have to be loyal to if dude isn't coming correct? *sips Lipton and sits next to Kermit*

  2. I initially responded to this on 8/1 but I see it did not register...geez smh.
Ok...let's try this again. I see you on minding your business if someone is truly a ho. Look, if a homie get's involved with someone who truly is sexually promiscuous, then you knew what it was before you got involved. Your true goal was to smash for the present with no foreseeable aspirations for any commitment for the future. Now, if you're trying to make a ho a housewife then you're jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire! On the other hand, some cats call girls hos because they can't smash because she is not easy, therefor, they react with that incorrect title towards a female due to a hurt ego. Finally, I compare this to the phrase that all women are queens: I challenge that! To explain, that title has to be earned and not given. All women are not queens because some of their actions are not of a queenly manner. One can't be a queen when their actions are hoish lol!

    1. Haha! Not all women are queens nor do some of them want to be queens! There are people, especially men, who try to mold women into what they want them to be. Some women conform, some don't. My point is that it's a woman's choice to portray herself in the way of her choosing.
Anyway, like I said before, the word ho has loose meanings and it seems to be based on speculation. What's the importance of labeling a woman based on things that you've heard? Does your past always determine your future?
Of course not. I know some women who were wild in their younger years and are now wives and mothers and their husbands both know and don't care about her past.
I know women who love sex but you wouldn't know it because their partners are fine with it.
I also know some women who wouldn't dare tell of their sexual past in fear of losing their partner and damaging his ego.
I think a lot of people are concerned with the expressive way that some women express their openness to sex. Regardless, they still need to mind their business! That's the bottom line.

Thanks so much for your comment Bronal! I appreciate your input!
